Privacy

In short: Säckli has no account, no ads and no analytics. Camera and sound are processed on your iPhone and stay there. The app connects to the internet only when you send a round yourself.
Who is responsible
Marco Meyer, Switzerland. Contact: feedback@saeckli.ch
What the app processes on your iPhone
- Camera: to recognise the bags on the board. Recognition runs on the iPhone.
- Microphone (optional): to hear bags landing on the board. The sounds are classified on the iPhone, for example to tell speech from an impact.
- Recordings: each round is stored on the iPhone as a video with sound, together with the recognition data, the result and your corrections. Videos are deleted after 7 days, except rounds you want to send; you can change this in the settings.
- Game data: team names, scores, training stats and settings.
- Photos: the app only asks to add a highlight video to your photos, and only when you choose to save it. It does not read your photos.
This data stays in the app on your iPhone. When you delete the app, it is gone. It may be included in iPhone or iCloud backups, as with other apps.
When you send a round
Only when you start it yourself (Settings › Recordings) does the app pack the chosen rounds, one file each. Each file contains:
- the videos of those rounds, with sound,
- the recognition data, the result and your corrections,
- your note and the team names,
- the app version, the iPhone model, the iOS version and a random ID of this installation (so one iPhone's rounds stay together; it is not linked to you or your Apple ID).
Uploading: the files go encrypted (HTTPS) to storage at Cloudflare (Cloudflare R2, located in the European Union). Cloudflare technically sees your IP address; we do not store it. Uploaded rounds are deleted from that storage after 180 days at the latest; what we need for the recognition is then kept only by us.
Sharing as a file: instead, you can send the rounds through the iOS share sheet (email, AirDrop, WhatsApp, ...); that service's own terms apply to it.
We use sent rounds only to improve bag recognition, including training the recognition models. We do not pass them on or publish them. We delete them on request.
The videos show the players and have sound. Ask the people in the picture before you send.
Beta through TestFlight
During the beta, Säckli is distributed through Apple's TestFlight. Apple shares with us your name and email address if we invited you by email, crash reports, feedback you send in TestFlight, and technical details such as the iPhone model and iOS version. Apple's TestFlight privacy notice applies to this.
What there is not
- no account and no login,
- no ads and no tracking,
- no analytics or statistics services,
- no connection to a server, except to upload rounds you send.
Possible optional features later
Later there may be, for example, anonymous usage statistics or other online features. Such features would be optional and off until you turn them on. We will update this policy before such a feature comes to the app.
Your rights
You can ask what data you sent us and have it deleted. Write to feedback@saeckli.ch.
